Our Mission
STRENGTHENING COMMUNITIES THROUGH FOOD SERVICE
Now Serving pairs restaurants, caterers, and commercial kitchens (Meal Makers) with Community Agencies to deliver healthy meals to neighbors in need. With our resources, Meal Makers integrate community meals into their operations and connect with trusted partners to enable efficient distribution.
This fresh approach to hunger relief has three main benefits: It provides regular income to local business producing community meals, gives community agencies input on meal quantity and type, and most importantly, provides nutritious, ready-to-consume meals to recipients.
Our vision is a sustainable support system to uplift residents across North Carolina and the South.
Our Story
In 2016, The Sunday Supper was formed to help families and businesses devastated by Hurricane Matthew. Our inaugural event, named PRSA Nonprofit Event of the Year, gathered 1,000 people to share a meal on Fayetteville Street in downtown Raleigh. That day, we raised $189,000 for the North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund.
Leveraging the power of food and the creative chefs who best prepare it, we’ve since brought together civic leaders, community organizers, and caring citizens for successful fundraisers in Raleigh, Durham, and Charlottesville.
Adapting this model of engagement and empowerment, The Sunday Supper has become Now Serving to directly support the most vulnerable among us. We have experience mobilizing people to meet a need and understand scale. This is the next step. We need your support to do it and look forward to working with you.
